The “Blueprint” Guide: 5 Steps to Your Florida License
Getting licensed in Florida is a regulated multi-step process. Follow this definitive walkthrough to ensure your application moves through the state system without delay.
• Step 1: Meet the Prerequisites – You must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and possess a valid U.S. Social Security number. You do not need to be a Florida resident to apply.
• Step 2: Complete Your Pre-Licensing Education – Register for and complete our FREC-approved 63-hour Sales Associate course. You must pass the end-of-course final exam with a score of at least 70%.
• Step 3: Submit Your Background Fingerprints – You must have your electronic fingerprints taken at an approved Livescan vendor at least 5 days before submitting your state application. Use ORI number FL920010Z to ensure results are sent to the Real Estate Commission.
• Step 4: File Your State Application – Submit your application to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) online at myfloridalicense.com. The state fee is approximately $83.75. It typically takes 10 to 30 days for the state to process and approve your application.
• Step 5: Pass the State Exam – Once you receive your “Authorization to Test” email, schedule your exam through Pearson VUE. You must achieve a score of 75% or higher to officially become a licensed Florida Real Estate Sales Associate.
